Memorial Day

I know that this day commemorates those who have died in battle. As I grew up, it was always celebrated May 30, but over the years national holidays have reverted to the Monday closest to the actual date with the exceptions of New Year's, Thanksgiving (4th Thursday in November every year) and religious holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur. I assume this happened to accommodate workers who relished a 3-day weekend. Anyway, since tomorrow marks Memorial Day this year I decided to read some history on it -- not volumes but the marked link here. Memorial Day History
